Dr Lopez is now in his 63rd year of studying martial arts. He started training at the age of
10 and then entered the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and continued training in various
styles and systems as he traveled throughout the world. He has trained in Japan, Okinawa,
Korea, China, Philippines, as well as the United States. In the latter years of his Marine
Corps career he began training fellow Marines in the martial arts and found teaching the
martial arts was more rewarding than just training himself. Upon retirement he moved to
Wisconsin and established his first school in Baraboo. The huge success of this school lead
to the opening of the other schools in Wisconsin and Illinois.
